Financial consumer protection is an integral part of the Government of Canada’s oversight of the financial sector. The Financial Consumer Agency of Canada (FCAC) ensures federally regulated financial entities comply with consumer protection measures, promotes financial education and raises consumers’ awareness of their rights and responsibilities.
To deliver on this mandate, FCAC draws on the skills and experience of a broad array of marketing, communications and consumer-education professionals, working at different levels depending on experience and skill. These include:
• graphic design
• writing
• editing
• translation
• video
• advertising
• events
• social media
• news media relations, monitoring
• web content strategy, coordination and development
• project coordination
• management
FCAC is a separate agency that offers the same pension and benefits plans as the core federal public service. From this process, we may establish a pool of candidates for use in staffing a variety of positions at various levels ranging from junior officer through strategist, senior officer and manager, with various tenures, language requirements and security levels.

Diploma from a postsecondary* institution

Experience in producing marketing and/or communications products, demonstrating some or all of the following skills: writing, editing, translation, design, layout, illustration, project coordination
Experience in developing some or all of the following: news releases, Qs and As, reports, blogs, advertising, Ministerial or cabinet briefing notes, news articles, high-level speeches, infographics, social media content, web content, videos
Various language requirements

1) Experience in planning and coordinating speaker participation in events and/or event logistics
2) Experience in data collection, analysis and reporting relevant to marketing and/or communications
3) Experience in developing and/or executing marketing and/or communications strategies and plans, from initiation through execution and evaluation, for internal and/or external audiences
4) Experience at a senior level in writing and/or editing documents (e.g. speeches, reports, memos, press releases) for high-profile persons
5) Experience in leading, coordinating and evaluating an organization’s web presence, to promote maximum audience reach and to encourage content developers to align their products with marketing/communications best practice
6) Experience in leading an organization’s day-to-day social-media presence as well as executing and evaluating targeted campaigns
7) Experience in graphic design and/or video production
8) Experience in media relations
9) Experience in planning and/or executing advertising campaigns
10) Experience in issues management for news media, Ministerial relations, Parliamentary affairs and/or stakeholder communications
11) Experience in researching, writing and publishing web content on consumer issues for the general public
12) Experience in assisting with, and/or managing multi-disciplinary teams, projects, budgets and/or channels (web, social media) in communications and/or marketing
13) Experience in advising senior management on marketing and/or communications
