To provide engineering technical support to senior management and staff of SCH C&A Region, Harbour Authorities, Indigenous Groups, representatives of the federal, provincial and municipal governments/agencies and a broad range of external clients that interact with SCH.
Key Activities:
Conducts and/or leads multiple/diverse capital projects (i.e. harbour maintenance and construction projects) as project leader/specialist within program parameters, and, produces reports to advance projects and program delivery.
Establishes formal and informal linkages with external and internal partner/stakeholder groups or contractors; develops contract proposals for review; and consults with partners or contractors to discuss frameworks for financial/work relationships.
Provides quality assurance, inspection, monitoring and control services during all phases of project activity, according to plans and specifications.
Investigates, evaluates, assesses, and provides technical support for feasibility surveys and studies to produce preliminary designs.
Conducts environmental screenings and assessments.
Writes Requests for Proposals
Conducts inspections, assessments and evaluations on new and existing projects and recommends modifications where required.
Confers Client Services Program Officers and professional engineering staff on project planning and implementation, and operational/technical issues.
The Small Craft Harbours Branch (SCH) - Central & Arctic Region has over 180 commercial fishing and recreational harbours in Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, Northwest Territories and Nunavut. The fishing harbours are generally managed by volunteer Harbour Authorities.
Nationally, in collaboration with hundreds of community-based Harbour Authority partners, the SCH program operates and maintains a national network of public fishing harbours essential to fish harvesters and the economic well-being of coastal and rural communities across Canada. In each region, SCH has a small, dedicated multi-disciplinary team who work in a positive, dynamic and rewarding environment alongside local partners towards the mutual goal of keeping SCH harbours, safe, in good operating order and responsive to clients' needs. SCH is actively engaged in divesting its recreational harbours.
The intent of this process is to staff 1 (one) position indeterminately in Winnipeg, MB. A pool may be created to staff similar positions in Burlington and other locations within in Central and Arctic Region, on an indeterminate or term basis.

Graduation from a two (2) year diploma course in construction management, civil, survey, architectural technology or related building technology from a recognized technical institute.
