A pool of qualified candidates will be created following this process, and will be used to staff similar positions for indeterminate appointments, term, acting appointments, casual, deployments, assignment and secondment in the Quebec region.

EDUCATION
A secondary school diploma or a satisfactory score on the Public Service Commission test or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION
Qualified under the Boiler and Pressure Vessel regulations of the Province of employment for the operation of any boilers in the employer’s workplace that this position may be responsible for operating as a shift engineer. Minimum Power Engineer Certification requirement is fourth (4th) class, with a third (3rd) class or better required at some sites.
EXPERIENCE
Experience in operating high pressure steam or hot water or distribution power plants in a manufacturing, industrial or institutional environment.
Experience in maintaining and troubleshooting a variety of problems with complex mechanical, electrical, control and monitoring systems.
EDUCATION
Successful completion of any work related continuing education courses relevant to the position.
OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION
Possession of a SMT designation from the Building Owners and Managers Institute.
Possession of a valid Certificate in Gas Fitting Class C or better with Electrical Endorsement issued by the Province of employment for the operation of any boilers in the employer’s workplace.
Possession of a Certificate of Academic Training related to Building Automation Systems or Instrumentation.
Possession of a valid fall protection certification.
EXPERIENCE
Experience in the operations of:
-Refrigeration and air conditioning equipment;
-Controls (steam, heat, air handling, computer, pneumatic, etc.);
- Steam Valves, Pressure Reducing Valves, Expansion Valves, etc.; and/or
-Water treatment (boiler and potable water)
Experience working in a correctional facility.

KNOWLEDGE
Knowledge of the operation and repair of a large high pressure power or hot water heating plants.
Knowledge of codes and regulations relevant to the maintenance of a high pressure steam and/or distribution power and/or hot water heating plant.
Knowledge of workplace health and safety programs.

Ability to provide instruction on the use of relevant tools.
Ability to analyze and resolve problems.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Willingness and ability to travel to various locations.
Willingness to work within correctional facilities.
Willingness to work with/or instruct inmates where applicable
Willingness to work overtime, holidays and shiftwork for a 24/7 institutional establishment.
Reliability Status security clearance
Requirement to lift and carry items weighing up to 23 kilograms.
