The Canadian Special Operations Regiment (CSOR) is optimized to be a kinetic force with the agility to conduct and support a broad range of Special Operations missions. The Regiment is built upon the Special Forces Operator, a unique occupational trade within the Canadian Armed Forces, who pursue mastery of Special Warfare, Special Reconnaissance, Military Assistance and Direct Action. Our personnel work effectively in high-stress environments and are able to conduct and enable a wide variety of special operations tasks at home and abroad.

CSOR is located on Garrison Petawawa, the “Training Ground of the Warriors” and is one of the busiest operational bases in Canada. The Department of National Defence is the largest employer in the Ottawa Valley, it is an integral part of the community both in terms of support to community events and the positive economic impact its members have on the local economy.

In addition to the 300 square kilometre training area, Garrison Petawawa is home to a number of recreation facilities including state-of-the-art fitness facilities, marina, 18-hole golf course, 120-site campground, hockey arena, indoor pool, climbing wall, sports fields, biking/walking/snowmobile trails, groomed cross-country skiing trails, two beaches, museum, cinema and shopping.

Located 90 minutes from Ottawa in the picturesque Ottawa Valley, Garrison Petawawa members and their families posted here enjoy a high standard of living with ready access to outdoor recreation, such as Whitewater rafting, in Ontario and in Quebec and have the opportunity to live next to Algonquin Park and the mighty Ottawa River in the rapidly growing community of Petawawa or one of the other many towns and villages in the Upper Ottawa Valley.

We offer the rewarding challenge of working in a high tempo and dynamic operational setting. Our personnel are driven individuals who are eager to stay fit both physically and mentally and quickly return to their duties following any illness. They are active participants in their own well-being, which reinforces the team environment at CSOR.
