The intent of this inventory is to build a pool of qualified candidates for permanent and temporary staffing of future vacancies. The pool may also be used to staff similar positions within Fisheries and Oceans and Canadian Coast Guard.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Experience
Significant* experience in Coast Guard vessel operations or working in a trade in the marine, shipbuilding and repair field.

*Significant experience in Coast Guard vessel operation is defined as approximately three years or more

Experience conducting routine maintenance or repairs or overhaul on hulls, electrical or mechanical systems.

Depending on the position being staffed, any of the asset qualifications may also be deemed as an essential qualification and only candidates and persons with a priority entitlement who possess those qualifications will be considered for that specific vacancy. Industry recognized certification in one of the following ship repair related trades:
• Marine Service Technician (formerly known as Marine Repair Technician)
• Fiberglasser
• Diesel Mechanic
• Welder Fabricator

• Hull technician for Rigid Hull Inflatable
• Outboard Mechanic
• Painter/decorator
• Automotive Refinishing Technician
• Heavy Machinery Operator
• Electrician

Experience using a work order system.

Operational Requirements:
- Domestic travel using various means of transportation such as ships, planes, and helicopters, sometimes on short notice.
- Ability and willingness to conduct site visits to vessels, involving walking over rough terrain and/or climbing stairs, ladders, scaffolding, or other structures.
- Work overtime as required.

Conditions of employment

Reliability Status security clearance

- Must wear and maintain CSA approved safety footwear and maintain job-related personal safety equipment
- Medical Clearance will be required for Employees who must wear respirators (OHAG): Marine Service Technician (formerly known as Marine Repair Technician), Fiberglasser, Marine Coating Applicator
- Possession of a valid driver’s license.
