What kind of work will you do?

As a Program Officer you will make a difference in the lives of Canadians through these activities:
• Providing information, advice and guidance to internal and external stakeholders.
• Assessing and making recommendations of Grants and Contribution applications, Labour Market Impact Assessments and other employer support programs.
• Interpreting and applying policies, procedures and legislation
• Negotiating funding proposals and monitoring approved projects and/or agreements.
• Researching and analyzing labour market data for various industries.
• Developing integrated and strategic approaches involving different projects addressing complex situations for the community.
We will use this inventory to fill vacancies as they become available. A pool of qualified candidates will be created and will be used to staff vacancies of various tenures, languages, and security requirements. It may also be used to staff similar positions within Service Canada, Ontario Region.

As this job involves administration of Grants and Contributions (G&C’s) as well as other employer related programs (such as but not limited to, Canada Summer Jobs, Work-Sharing, Temporary Foreign Worker Program), we want you to tell us if you have specific work experience related to these programs, and any success stories or accomplishments you want to share.
Experience criteria:
(1) Delivering services or programs to the general public;
(2) Collaborating with community partners or stakeholders; and
(3) Using technology (e.g. Microsoft Office, Internet, SharePoint).

EDUCATION:
A secondary school diploma or a satisfactory score on the General Intelligence Test 320 (the PSC test approved as an alternative to a secondary school diploma).
