This is an office based assignment focusing on analysis of climate model output and climate observations, including database construction, data compilation and management, statistical analysis, and interpretation of physical processes in support of improving knowledge of climate change impacts on wind storms in Canada.

The student should clearly indicate in their cover letter the research areas where they possess knowledge (degree) or experience:
• Climate science
• Geophysics
• Meteorology
• Physical geography
• Statistics
• Scientific computing
• Enrolled in a recognized post-secondary institution in a graduate program (Master’s or PhD program) in Climate Science, Geophysics, Meteorology, Physical Geography, or a related discipline.
The education credential of the applicant (including grades) must be sufficient for admission into a suitable Faculty of Science (or equivalent) and the application must be accepted before the availability date.
The following courses and/or programs must have been completed in a recognized post-secondary institution:
• Successful completion of courses in meteorology or climatology.
• Successful completion of courses in statistics.
In the context of student recruitment in the federal public service, experience can be acquired through studies, work experience or volunteer activities.
• Experience using scientific programming languages such as R, Python, IDL, or MATLAB.
• Experience in analysis of meteorological conditions associated with climate extremes.
• Experience performing research.
