Candidates that apply for this position will have to complete a screening questionnaire in order to clearly demonstrate that they meet the education and experience criteria(essential and asset qualifications). Please note that having the asset qualifications is not mandatory in order to apply to this process however they may be used at a later time to select the right fit.
VERY IMPORTANT NOTE:
Candidates must clearly demonstrate in the experience questionnaire how they meet the education and experience factors listed as essential and asset qualifications on the Statement of Merit Criteria. In order to do so, they must write one or two paragraphs for each demonstrating how they meet them with concrete examples.
The assessment board cannot make any assumptions about your experience. Note that it is not sufficient to only state that the qualifications are met or to provide a listing of current or past responsibilities. Resumes will be used as a secondary source to validate the experience described in the experience questionnaire. Failure to clearly demonstrate in the questionnaire how you meet the education and experience, both essential and asset, where applicable, may result in the rejection of your application. Candidates will not be solicited for incomplete or possible missing information.
The current intention of this selection process is to create an anticipatory pool to staff positions on an indeterminate/determinate basis. A pool of partially qualified and/or fully qualified candidates may be established to staff similar positions within Global Affairs Canada with various language requirements and/or various tenures, according to the positions being staffed.

EDUCATION FOR AS-05 AND AS-06 POSITIONS:
ED1 - Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience approved by the employer.
EXPERIENCE FOR AS-05 AND AS-06 POSITIONS:
EX1- Significant experience* managing (planning, organizing, and implementing) international conferences, events or visits to Canada or abroad for high level dignitaries (level of Deputy Minister or senior executive and above).
EX2- Experience working with senior officials from the public or private sectors, or the international community.
EX3- Significant experience* managing project budgets including preparation, monitoring and reporting.
*Significant experience is defined as having performed these tasks over a period of two (2) years.
EXPERIENCE FOR AS-06 POSITIONS:
EX4- Significant experience* supervising or managing a team of employees or coordinating a team of employees, contractors or partners.
*Significant experience is defined as having performed these tasks over a period of three (3) years.

EXPERIENCE FOR AS-05 AND AS-06 POSITIONS:
AEX1- Significant and recent experience* managing (planning, organizing, and implementing) visits to Canada of foreign Heads of State or foreign Heads of Government, or national cabinet ministers or Heads of international organizations or outgoing visits of the Governor General or Prime Minister or federal ministers.
*Significant and recent experience is defined as having performed these tasks within the last three (3) years over a period of 24 months.
KNOWLEDGE FOR AS-05 AND AS-06 POSITIONS:
AK1- Knowledge of a foreign language.
AK2- Knowledge of contracting and procurement processes and financial and hospitality policies in the federal public service.
AK3- Knowledge of the requirements pertaining to project management and the planning of major international events and conferences in Canada.
OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Willingness, ability and availability to work extensive overtime;
- Willingness, ability and availability to travel often for extended periods of time and/or on short notice;
- Willingness, ability and availability to lift heavy objects (suitcases, boxes) and stand for long periods of time.
