Delivery of information services to federally registered victims of crime according to legislated mandate of the CCRA; assess the eligibility of victims to receive information, interprets legislation pertaining to victims, provides information to members of the public regarding corrections and conditional release; and is a resource to CSC staff, victim service agencies and other members of the criminal justice system.
Correctional Service of Canada (CSC), as part of the criminal justice system and respecting the rule of law, contributes to public safety by actively encouraging and assisting offenders to become lawabiding citizens, while exercising reasonable, safe, secure and humane control.
A pool of qualified candidates may be established and may be used to fill similar vacancies of various tenures with Correctional Service of Canada in the Atlantic Region.

EDUCATION
Graduation with a degree or applied degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in a field related to human behaviour such as the social sciences, psychology or criminology, or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience related to the position.
EXPERIENCE
Experience providing needs focused client services and information or working in one or more of the following fields:
• Victim Services
• Crisis Intervention
• Emotional Support
• Needs Assessment
• Social Care Setting
• Community Work
• Counselling
• Court Preparation
Experience analyzing information, situations, and issues and finding solutions.
Experience in the use of computer software such as Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
EXPERIENCE
Experience liaising, collaborating and working in partnership with components of the criminal justice system or outside organizations providing support to victims.
Experience using the Offender Management System (OMS) and/or CRM Victim Applicat ion Module.
Experience in case management
Experience working with victims of crime
Experience with restorative justice.
Bilingual - Imperative (CBC/CBC)

KNOWLEDGE
Knowledge of the mission, priorities, mandate, and the role of the Correctional Service of Canada as it relates to public safety.
Knowledge of the Corrections and Conditional Release Act, the Canadian Victim Bill of Rights, and Commissioner Directives (CD) 784, 785, and 786.
Knowledge of the role and responsibilities of government and external organizations involved in assisting victims of crime.

Agreement to work in a high stress environment and be exposed to sensitive and unsettling information and situations in providing victim services to members of the public.
