$90,395 to $105,427 (This rate of pay is presently under review and is not reflective of the recently signed collective agreement. The negotiated provisions shall be implemented within a period of one hundred and fifty (150) days from the date of signing.)

Intent of the process

To immediately staff one (1) permanent position in Dartmouth Nova Scotia. A pool of qualified candidates may be established and used to staff similar permanent and temporary employment for positions located in DFO Gulf and Maritimes Regions.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Education:
- Graduation with a degree from a recognized university in civil engineering, or other engineering specialty relevant to the requirements of the position.

Degree equivalency

Occupational Certification:
- Eligibility for certification as a professional engineer in Canada (The term "eligibility" for certification or membership in a professional association means that a candidate has met all academic and occupational requirements with respect to degrees, examinations, experience, etc. without having to have obtained or maintained actual registration, certification or membership)

Experience:
- Recent*and significant**experience in the planning, design, and construction of structural civil infrastructure (* Recent experience is understood to mean within the past eight (8) years) (** Significant experience is understood to mean the depth and breadth associated with having performed a broad range of various, complex related activities over a minimum of five (5) years)

- Recent* and significant** experience in contract administration and managing technical consultants and contractors (* Recent experience is understood to mean within the past eight (8) years) (** Significant experience is understood to mean the depth and breadth associated with having performed a broad range of various, complex related activities over a minimum of five (5) years)

- Experience in the preparation and evaluation of engineering reports, analysis of results and recommending implementation options in support of infrastructure investment and rehabilitation initiatives.

- Experience in consulting with external stakeholders and regulatory agencies

- Experience managing financial and human resources

- Certification as a Project Management Professional.

- Experience in the design, construction, rehabilitation, repair, and maintenance of harbour structures, or experience in a field of engineering which would contribute to the conduct of these activities.

- Experience in the use of AutoCAD Civil 3D

- Willingness to travel, including travel to remote locations by various modes of transportation (e.g. small and large aircraft, all terrain vehicles, boats, helicopter, etc.).
- Possession of a valid driver's license.
- Requirement to work overtime.
- Must have the physical ability to inspect marine structures and climb ladders
