Intent of the process

Anticipatory Process - The intent of this anticipatory process is to create a qualified pool of candidates at the AS-01 group and level to staff various positions within Transport Canada with various security requirements and various tenures (Specified Period, Assignment, Indeterminate, Acting, Secondment) depending on the position(s) being staffed. Once established, the qualified pool will be valid for one (1) year with the possibility of being extended.

You must meet all essential qualifications in order to be appointed to the position. Other qualifications may be a deciding factor in choosing the person to be appointed. Some essential and other qualifications will be assessed through your application. It is your responsibility to provide appropriate examples that illustrate how you meet each qualification. Failing to do so could result in your application being rejected.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

ED: Successful completion of a secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

EX1: Recent experience communicating with officials at the senior management level.

EX2: Recent experience preparing, editing and/or proofreading routine correspondence and preparing reports.

* Recent is defined as the depth and breadth of experience that would normally be acquired within the last three (3) years.

EX3: Experience in maintaining tracking systems and databases to control and monitor the flow of documentation and information.

EX4: Experience with various software packages such as Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Internet navigation tools.

EX5: Experience providing administrative support services to a large organization and to management.

Post-Secondary diploma in a field related to the duties of the position.

Degree equivalency

Experience in responding to and / or handling enquiries and correspondence with a computerized docket system.

Experience identifying relevant information and compiling materials for senior management.

Experience in managing administrative, financial and/or human resources services

Experience in *supervision.

*Applicants must clearly demonstrate that they have supervised staff, assigned work, managed and assessed performance, and have contributed to or developed staffing plans. Applicants must indicate the number of staff they supervised.

Conditions of employment

Security: Various security clearances, depending on the position being staffed: Reliability, Secret

Willingness and ability to work overtime with minimum or no advance notice

Managers may establish conditions of employment specific to the position being staffed.

Candidates must meet and maintain the Conditions of Employment throughout their employment.

VERY IMPORTANT NOTE: Candidates will be asked, as per the application process, to answer screening questions for each essential and asset criteria (education and experience).
