Intent of the process

This process will be used to staff one permanent position and to create a pool of qualified candidates for similar positions with various tenures (temporary, permanent), at the Health Product Compliance East Unit of Health Canada in Longueuil, Québec. Should the selected candidate already be a public servant, the pool could also be used for acting appointments.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Education:
Bachelor’s degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in microbiology, chemistry, pharmacy, or some other specialty related to the position (e.g.: medical biology, pharmacology, biochemistry, etc.)

Degree equivalency

Experience:
Recent and significant work experience* production, quality assurance, quality control, validation or as an auditor in the pharmaceutical industry of marketed drugs.
OR
Recent and significant experience* in the execution of compliance and enforcement activities related to drugs subject to the Food and Drugs Act and its associated regulations at Health Canada.
OR
Experience acquired through a specialized graduate studies diploma in a recognized post-secondary institution, in connection with the pharmaceutical field.
OR
Experience in the practice of pharmacy in Canada.

* Recent and significant experience is defined as three (3) years within the last seven (7) years.

Information on language requirements

Knowledge:
Knowledge of the Food and Drugs Act and its associated regulations regarding drugs, active pharmaceutical ingredients and natural health products.

Knowledge of the policies and guides applied by the Regulatory Operations and Regions Branch (RORB) within the regulated industry, in matters of compliance and enforcement for drugs and natural health products.

Working experience* in conducting Good Manufacturing Practices inspections for drugs.

Working experience* in conducting compliance verifications or investigations for drugs.

Working experience* in the application of Good Manufacturing Practices for drugs or natural health products.

Working experience* related to sterile product fabrication in compliance with established standards/regulations.

Working experience* related to biotechnology product fabrication in compliance with established standards/regulations.

Working experience* related to radiopharmaceutical product fabrication in compliance with established standards/regulations.

Working experience* related to good pharmacovigilance (GVP) activities in the pharmaceutical drugs industry.

* Working experience is defined as a minimum of two (2) years within the last five (5) years.

Once the candidates have been assessed and the pool is created, it will not be possible for the candidates in this pool to add additional information regarding merit criteria for future consideration, except for linguistic results. Also, no additional candidates will be added to the pool for all of its duration.

Candidates who have been fully assessed and found to have met all essential qualifications except official language requirements may update their second-language evaluation (SLE) results for as long as the pool is/pools are valid. N.B.: Each candidate can only undergo SLE testing one time within the context of an appointment process; any update to a candidate's linguistic profile must be as a result of subsequent SLE testing done outside of this appointment process.
