You must meet all essential qualifications in order to be appointed to the position. Other qualifications may be a deciding factor in choosing the person to be appointed. Successful completion of two years of an acceptable post-secondary educational program in computer science, information technology, information management or another specialty relevant to the position to be staffed or acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
NOTES:
1. Indeterminate period incumbents of positions in the CS group on May 10, 1999, who do not possess the education prescribed above are deemed to meet the minimum education standards based on their education, training and/or experience. They must be accepted as having met the minimum education standard whenever this standard is called for when staffing positions in the CS group.
2. It is a recognized educational institution (e.g., community college, CÉGEP or university) that determines if the courses taken by a candidate correspond to two years of a post-secondary program at the institution.
3. At the manager's discretion, an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience may serve as an alternative to the minimum post-secondary education stated above. Whenever the minimum education is met via this alternative, it is met for the specific position only and must be re-assessed for other positions for which this alternative has been specified by the manager.
EX1 Recent* and extensive*** experience in conducting IM/IT in one of the following 4 activities:
• developing IM/IT infrastructure services,
• implementing new systems,
• managing IM/IT infrastructure (hardware or software),
• supporting IM/IT infrastructure (hardware or software).
EX2 Recent* and significant** experience giving advice and recommendations to management on technical issues related to one or more of the following: planning, deployment, implementation, integration or maintenance of IM/IT infrastructure (hardware or software).
EX3 Recent* and extensive*** experience resolving problems for IM/IT infrastructure (hardware or software).
EX4 Recent* and significant** experience in leading and executing major technology releases while continuing to maintain and monitor mission critical services.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
Graduation with a bachelor degree from a recognized post-secondary institution.
EXPERIENCE
EXP1. Experience in managing enterprise storage infrastructure, including Direct Access Storage (DAS) Devices, Network Attached Storage (NAS), Storage Area Network (SAN) such as Managed Storage - high-availability storage from on-line, near-line and off-line archive storage systems.
EXP2. Experience in managing enterprise backup infrastructure.
EXP3. Experience in managing enterprise Windows environments.
EXP4. Experience in managing enterprise Unix, Linux and/or AIX environments.
EXP5. Experience in managing enterprise application presentation and/or Virtual desktop infrastructure.
EXP6. Experience working in Application development, operations and maintenance.
EXP7. Significant** experience with Hypervisor Technologies (Microsoft or VMWare).
EXP8. Significant** experience with automation or batch scheduling tools across multiple platforms such as Mainframe (IBM/Unisys) and x86.
EXP9. Experience in ongoing management and support of mainframe environment hardware, operating system software and foundation software that comprise the standard software stack, such as:
- Hardware platforms - IBM S/390, IBM System zSeries and Unisys L690 and L6390;
- Operating systems - MVS, z/OS, Z/VM, Linux and MCP;
- On-line Transaction Manager – CICS and COMS;
- Message Management - MQSeries;
- Web – WebSphere.
EXP10. Experience with Database Management System (DBMS) - engineering and specific administrative services in the operation and support of the DBMS. The service includes at least two the following standards: DB2; DMSII; Oracle; IDMS; and ADABAS.
EXP11. Experience in managing enterprise bulk print infrastructure and/or services.
EXP12. Experience in managing mainframe security infrastructure products and/or services.
EXP13. Experience in providing IT advice to management as well as clients in the field of advanced computer technology related to high-performance computing and/or high-availability systems.
EXP14. Experience in the evaluation, implementation and delivery of large scale advanced computer technology systems, such as servers, storage, networking, operating system software and middleware.
EXP15. Experience leading and/or managing project activities in the delivery of a minimum of 2 IT projects focusing on the delivery of technology, business processes and/or tools, in an IT environment.
