The immediate need for Streams 1, 2 and 3 are for positions in the National Capital Region, although similar positions across Canada may be staffed in the future. Anticipatory needs for Stream 4 positions are for locations mentioned above, however additional locations across Canada may be required in the future.

Intent of the process

A partially or fully assessed pool may be created to staff similar positions with various tenures and/or with various linguistic profiles and/or various security clearance levels within Health Canada.

You must meet all essential qualifications in order to be appointed to the position. Other qualifications may be a deciding factor in choosing the person to be appointed. Education:

Graduation with a degree* from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialisation in microbiology, chemistry, engineering, pharmacy, food science, plant science, agriculture, botany, biology, biochemistry or some other specialty related to the position

*NOTES REGARDING EDUCATION:

1. The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and must have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily within a degree program in the required specialization

2. The proof of education will be required by June 1, 2018. Candidates MUST make arrangements to ensure that these documents (i.e. proof of education and occupational certification) are available upon request. Candidates will be provided with instructions during the process indicating how to submit the document(s). If possible, candidates should have these documents scanned for quick availability.

Experience preparing or contributing to the preparation of submissions or applications containing technical or regulatory information

Stream 2 ONLY

Experience in carrying out regulatory processes, such as but not limited to, screening, reviewing or analyzing documents or supporting information related to regulated substances, products or activities.

Stream 3 and 4 ONLY

Significant* experience in the regulation, production or quality control in an operational environment responsible for items such as but not limited to cannabis for medical purposes, pesticides, tobacco, natural health products, food, drugs, medical devices or consumer products.

Significant* experience in providing technical advice or scientific interpretations and guidance to internal or external clients, based on the interpretation of regulations, policies or operating procedures for regulated products or substances.

*Significant refers to the breadth, depth, complexity and diversity of tasks/cases and the level of autonomy dealing with these issues normally associated with having performed such activities.

**Management is defined as Supervisor or above.

Experience working in a regulatory organization with particular responsibility for compliance and enforcement.
Experience in the development, implementation and delivery of policy, procedures, systems and resources related to the screening, review or analysis of documents or supporting information on regulated substances, products or activities.
Experience responding to inquiries from clients or the public pertaining to technical or regulatory matters

Other information

Candidates may be required to meet the asset qualifications or the organizational needs, depending on the requirements of the specific position being staffed.
