Transport Canada, Continuing Airworthiness directly contributes to the safety and security of Canadians on a daily basis. In Continuing Airworthiness, we are responsible for monitoring the in-service difficulties of the Canadian fleet both domestically and abroad. As a Technical Inspector, you’ll be responsible for the investigation of aircraft service difficulties, the review of, and response to, aircraft accident reports and the development of safety awareness materials to help maintain the already high level of aviation safety in Canada. You will assist in the oversight of the Canadian aviation industry through interaction with some of Canada’s largest and most advanced aircraft manufacturers and work with Transport Canada Design Engineers in the investigation and correction of aircraft safety issues.
At this point in time, Continuing Airworthiness is seeking Aircraft Maintenance Engineers with significant experience in the maintenance or management of modern aircraft typically used in airline operations. If you have such experience and are willing to apply your experience in a more regulatory focused environment, a career with Continuing Airworthiness is worth considering.
The results of this process will initially be used to staff one (1) position indeterminately through deployment. Thus, candidates at level will be considered first. A pool of qualified candidates will be established to staff similar positions on an indeterminate, determinate or acting basis, within Transport Canada in the National Capital Region.

EDUCATION
Successful completion of a post-secondary diploma or degree in aircraft maintenance or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience related to aircraft Maintenance or Manufacturing
OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION:
Possess a valid Canadian Aircraft Maintenance Engineer licence (AME)
OR
Holds a university degree, college certificate or a current membership in the American Society for Quality Control who have six (6) or more years of industry experience in the performance or supervision of aeronautical product manufacturing processes; Non-destructive specialist having ten (10) years in the field of non-destructive testing, preferably with an aircraft background and a C.G.S.B certification covering Radiography (Aircraft Structures), Magnetic Particle, Liquid Penetrant and Eddy Current inspection are also employed
EXPERIENCE
EX1 Significant* aircraft maintenance engineering experience related to the inspection, maintenance, manufacturing, modification or repair of aeronautical products.
*Significant: Candidate has performed complex activities related to this task in a wide variety of situations.
EX2 At least 5 years of experience in the maintenance of civilian fixed wing aircraft certificated for airline operations (CAR 705 or foreign equivalent)
OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION
Possession of a M2 and E rated Canadian Aircraft Maintenance Engineer license.
Possession of a M2 rated Canadian Aircraft Maintenance Engineer licence.
EDUCATION
Possession of an aviation related university degree/college diploma, or an acceptable Canadian General Standards Board (CGSB) certification.
EXPERIENCE
Significant* aircraft maintenance engineering experience related to the inspection, maintenance, manufacturing, modification or repair of avionics and/or electrical systems.
*Significant: Candidate has performed complex activities related to this task in a wide variety of situations.
Experience with quality assurance systems or other equivalent aviation Maintenance or Manufacturing activities in an approved aviation Maintenance or Manufacturing organization.
Experience in aviation accident or incident investigations.
Experience in the interpretation and application of airworthiness publications and standards.
Experience in using computerized tools (database or excel sheets) to conduct data analysis.
English essential
