Intent of the process

This process will be used to staff one (1) vacant position in Hamilton, Ontario. A pool of qualified candidates may be established and used to staff similar positions of various tenures and/or various linguistic requirements within the Department of Transport.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

EDUCATION:
Successful completion of a recognized post secondary school program in aircraft maintenance or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience.

Degree equivalency

OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION:
Possession of a valid Canadian Aircraft Maintenance Engineer License, Category M1.

EXPERIENCE:
Three (3) years of recent* experience as a licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer, category M1 and/ or M2, maintaining fixed wing aircraft.

*Recent is defined as within the last four (4) years.

KNOWLEGE:
Knowledge of Canadian civil airworthiness requirements as they pertain to maintenance performed on aircraft and aeronautical products.
Knowledge of aircraft systems and maintenance procedures.

Ability to interpret technical instructions and drawings.
Ability to communicate effectively orally.
Ability to communicate effectively in writing.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS:
Maintenance type training for King Air Series aircraft.
Experience in maintaining King Air Series aircraft.

ORGANIZATIONAL NEEDS:

Conditions of employment

Secret security clearance

Possession of a valid provincial/territorial driver's license.
Possession of a valid Canadian Passport.
Ability and willingness to work shifts and overtime on short notice during the week or on weekends, as required.
Ability and willingness to perform work in various positions on aircraft and in the hangar, which may involve standing, kneeling, lying and sitting as well as crawling into confined spaces and climbing elevated maintenance stands, as required.
Ability and willingness to travel for extended periods up to 6 weeks, as required.
