Duties

Are you looking for a new opportunity? We’re looking for collaborative, client focused professionals with experience in the web and broader digital environments to join our team.

The advertised positions support the web content management, ongoing improvement of user experience and delivery of web communications services for Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada’s (AAFC) internal and external online content through the provision of the following key activities:

DUTIES - ALL STREAMS
•Providing advice and guidance to departmental clients, communications colleagues, and management.
•Establishing procedures and guidelines and writing and maintaining documentation related to E-Communications activities.
•Initiating and maintaining contacts both internally and with other government departments to develop expert knowledge and share best practices, to collaborate, and to integrate the AAFC online presence into the GC context.

DUTIES - STREAM 1
•Digital analytics: Measuring, producing, analysing and reporting of Internet statistics (traffic) to optimize an integrated approach to web, social media and mobile channels. Includes developing and tracking key performance indicators to monitor and evaluate online performance, identify issues, and suggest and track improvements.
•Usability: Developing and implementing online usability standards, practices and solutions. Includes conducting usability research (including tests and surveys), identification of top tasks, and proposing improvements to optimize the usability of the digital-first environment.

DUTIES - STREAM 2
•Web information architecture (IA): Developing and maintaining the web IA, including the integration of video, social media, graphic design and marketing elements. Includes the presentation layer (navigation and labels), site structure (organization), page layouts, and search engine optimization to ensure findability of online content in the AAFC and Government of Canada (GC) contexts.
•Web content lifecycle: Developing and coordinating the content lifecycle process to ensure online content remains relevant, up-to-date and usable.
•Usability: Developing and implementing online usability standards, practices and solutions. Includes conducting usability research (including tests and surveys), identification of top tasks, and proposing improvements to optimize the usability of the digital-first environment.

DUTIES - STREAM 3
•Web Communications Advisor: Plans, coordinates and delivers critical web communications services to departmental clients. Includes management of projects and the development of web communications plans/ strategies to promote web content.
