Education:
Stream 1 and Stream 2:
A secondary school diploma or employer approved alternatives.
Stream 2: Minimum 4th Class Stationary Engineer required for PBS. Other sites may be assessed alternatively with successful completion of an approved Trades Qualification program in the Mechanical field and five years detailed experience in providing technical support and advice in the operations and maintenance of commercial office and special purpose facilities.
Experience:
Stream 1 and Stream 2:
- Experience supervising staff
- Experience supervising the operations and maintenance of a complex commercial or industrial or federal government facility
- Experience operating a forklift, gator or tractor
- Experience implementing construction and renovation projects in a complex commercial or industrial or federal government facility
- Experience conducting inspections of building systems in a complex commercial or industrial or federal government facility
Asset Criteria:
- Certification in a related trade including any one of the following, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic (H.V.A.C.), Plumber, Class B Gas Fitter, Millwright
- BOMI Certification in Design, Maintenance, and Operation of Building Systems.
- Experience using CAD software
- Experience using DDC systems

Knowledge:
Stream 1 and Stream 2:
- Knowledge of the Codes and/or Standards that apply to building design, building systems, building construction and building maintenance
- Knowledge of building system functions
- Knowledge of appropriate usage of personal protective equipment
Stream 1:
- Knowledge of procedures and best practices for the safe operation and maintenance of building and grounds infrastructure systems
- Knowledge of horticultural theories and practices
- Knowledge of project management
Stream 2:
- Knowledge of best practices and procedures for the safe operation and maintenance of buildings such as HVAC, Mechanical, Life Safety systems
Abilities:
- Ability to supervise staff and manage financial resources
- Ability to organize and set priorities
- Ability to communicate effectively orally
- Ability to communicate effectively in writing
- Ability to interpret building plans and schematics

- Willingness to travel within the Province by car, truck, boat, helicopter, and/or to attend conferences that require overnight stays
