Intent of the process

The intent of this staffing process is to create a pool of qualified candidates to staff positions on an indeterminate basis and also to staff positions for specified periods. Individuals hired for a specified period will remain in the pool for future indeterminate positions as they become available.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

EDUCATION:
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in a relevant social science such as social work, psychology or criminology.

Note: When education is required, candidates must always have a degree. The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and may have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily within a degree program in the required specialization. The specialization may also be obtained through an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE:

E1. Recent* experience in providing crisis intervention in a social service or health care context.
E2. Experience in working with vulnerable populations (ex. trauma, mental or physical illness, etc.).
E3. Experience in working with internal and/or external community stakeholders.

*Recent is defined as having acquired 1 year of experience within the last 3 years.

If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)

EDUCATION:

AED1. Master’s degree in a relevant social science such as social work, psychology, criminology, or a post-graduate certificate in a relevant field such as victimology, or conflict resolution studies.
AED2. Member of a Recognized Regulatory body related to the position (ex. OCSWSSW).

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE:

AE1. *Recent experience in providing crisis intervention in a social service or health care context.
AE2. Experience in providing counselling and support to members of the Canadian Armed Forces.
AE3. Experience in providing support to victims of sexual trauma or violence.
AE4. Experience in telephone counselling/interventions.
AE5. Experience in developing and delivering information briefs to various audiences.

*Recent is defined as having acquired 2 years of experience within the last 5 years.

Bilingual - Imperative (CBC/CBC)
If you have participated in the federal government second language evaluation (SLE) testing and your profile is still valid, please provide proof of your language results.

If you do not have valid second language evaluation (SLE) results through the Public Service Commission, you will be scheduled for testing within the staffing process.

Requirement to work overtime on short notice.
Requirement to travel on short notice.
Requirement to work in office during core hours of operation which are currently 07h00 to 18h00 EST but are subject to change on short notice.
Requirement to work on standby from a remote location (home) on a rotational basis 24/7.
Requirement to have access to functional internet services.
Requirement to work outside normal working hours which may include working evenings, nights and weekends.
