The intent of this process is to staff one position on a term basis, for a period of up to 2 years.
A pool of qualified candidates may be established through this process to staff identical or similar ENG-02 positions at Natural Resources Canada, CanmetENERGY-Varennes, with various tenures (determinate period or indeterminate), various linguistic requirements (imperative and/or non-imperative), language requirements (English Essential, French Essential, English or French Essential and Bilingual BBB/BBB), various security requirements, and various conditions of employment.

Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in Mechanical Engineering, Building Engineering or some other engineering specialty relevant to the duties of the position.
Recent* work experience in the field of mechanical heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC) systems for buildings.
*Recent is defined as experience gained within the last five years.
Recent* work experience in at least one of the following fields:
A. Simulating/modeling buildings (energy consumption or mechanical systems) or energy systems applied to buildings.
B. Energy analysis or management for buildings (such as energy audit and monitoring, etc.)
*Recent is defined as experience gained within the last five years.
Master’s degree from a recognized post secondary institution in the field of HVAC systems, energy efficiency for buildings or energy simulation.
Community college education diploma (CCED) in building mechanical systems or a recognized equivalent.
Experience in the recommissioning of mechanical heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC) systems for buildings.
Experience in the use of AUTOCAD software for technical drawings.
Experience in experimenting technics for test benches (instrumentation, testing and data analysis).
Bilingual - Imperative (BBB/BBB)
Information on language requirements
Knowledge of HVAC systems for buildings.
Knowledge of at least one of the following subjects:
A. Knowledge of software for analyzing the energy use of buildings (such as TRNSYS, DOE 2, ENERGYPlus, HOT2000, etc.)
B. Knowledge of energy efficiency measures for buildings.
Ability to organize work, prioritize and meet deadlines;
Ability to communicate effectively orally;
Ability to communicate effectively in writing.
Autonomy;
Team spirit (ability to work with others to achieve a common goal);
Creativity;
Reliability.

Knowledge of commercial or industrial refrigeration equipment or systems.
