You must meet all essential qualifications in order to be appointed to the position. Other qualifications may be a deciding factor in choosing the person to be appointed. EDUCATION / CERTIFICATION:
A secondary school diploma or employer-approved alternatives*;
AND one of the following:
- Technician or Technologist Diploma in Mechanical, Electronics or Computer Engineering from a recognized post-secondary institution; OR
- Certified Engineering Technician (CTech) or Technologist (CET) in Mechanical, Electronics or Computer Engineering;
*The employer-approved alternative to a secondary school diploma is a satisfactory score on the Public Service Commission test approved as an alternative to a secondary school diploma.
EXPERIENCE:
Stream 1, EG 03: Minimum of one term of co-op experience acquired as part of education.
Stream 2 EG 04: A minimum of 3 years in the last 4 working as a technician or technologist in a related marine environment.
Stream 3, EG 05: A minimum of 6 years in the last 8 working as a technician or technologist in a related marine environment.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: APPLICABLE TO ALL POSITIONS:
Requirement to perform duties on various classes of ships or submarines.
Requirement to work overtime and shift work.
Requirement to travel.
Requirement to attend training either within or out of headquarters area.
Requirement to work in confined/hazardous spaces and heights (including climbing of masts, staging, and ladders etc.).
Requirement to perform duties at sea or in the arctic.
Reliability Status security clearance - Must be willing to obtain and retain a Secret (Level II) security clearance.
Must undergo and pass employment medical assessments.
Ability to participate in field and sea trials.
Ability and willingness to Adhere to safety procedures including, but not limited to wearing product specific Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements, gloves applicable to the process being performed, safety glasses, and other required equipment.
