EDUCATION:
A secondary school diploma OR acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
EXPERIENCE:
(*For EG03 experience is defined as having depth and breadth of experience normally associated with full time performance of the duties for less than 3 years.
* For EG04 experience is defined as having depth and breadth of experience normally associated with full time performance of the duties for at least 3 years
* For EG05 experience is defined as having depth and breadth of experience normally associated with full time performance of the duties for at least 6 years.)
Experience working in one or more of the following areas: electronics, medical physics, chemistry, radiation detection, nuclear physics or engineering, or sub-atomic physics.
Experience working in a physical sciences or engineering laboratory environment.

Knowledge of safe handling procedures for radioactive materials and laboratory safety fundamentals.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION:
Completion of an acceptable post-secondary diploma program in electronics, engineering, chemistry, physics, or a similar discipline, or bachelor degree (or above) from a recognized post-secondary institution
EXPERIENCES:
Depth and breadth:
- Experience planning or conducting field trials. (EG 04 and EG 05)
- Experience working as part of a scientific team.
- Experience working in a military or security environment.
- Experience providing technical advice or support.
- Experience in computer programming for scientific or technical applications.
- Experience handling radioactive sources or materials.
- Experience using software for analysis of radioactive material.
- Experience working in a radiochemistry laboratory.
- Experience in the collection and analysis of radiological samples, including sample preparation.
- Experience in radionuclide separations.
- Experience in the use, development or maintenance of electronics for radiation detectors.
KNOWLEDGE:
Knowledge of Canadian Armed Forces Chemical Biological Radiological Nuclear (CBRN) Defence program.
Knowledge of radioactive sample collection and analysis techniques.
Knowledge of electronics design.
OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
May be required to work overtime at peak periods.
Must be able to obtain and retain a DND 404 licence. Must be able to obtain and retain a valid Class 5 driver’s licence.
Must be able to obtain and retain a Radiation Worker designation.
Must be able and willing to work in full Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for extended periods.
Must be willing to work with radiological materials.
Must be willing and able to work in a field setting (non-laboratory) including in adverse weather conditions.
Must be willing to do field work and support training.
Reliability Status security clearance - Must be able to obtain and retain a Secret (Level II) security clearance.
Must undergo and pass pre-employment medical. This condition of employment is a continuing one for as long as you occupy this position.
