The Aboriginal Liaison Program (ALP) serves as a bridge between Statistics Canada and the First Nations, Métis and Inuit communities and Indigenous organizations in Canada. The mandate of the program is to strengthen the lines of communication among the First Nations, Métis, Inuit, and other stakeholders at the national, regional, provincial and community levels. The aim of the program is to promote and advance organizational priorities, enhance existing programs and promote Statistics Canada data and services to the Indigenous community (including building statistical capacity), while promoting the full participation of Indigenous people in Statistics Canada's surveys.
The ALP serves a crucial role, coordinating statistical activities and collaborating with stakeholders in the analysis and distribution of meaningful statistics. This helps them to make informed decisions on important issues.
