The Government of Canada is committed to building a skilled workforce that is representative of Canada's diversity, which includes the recruitment of Canadian Veterans and releasing Canadian Armed Forces personnel:

WHY YOU SHOULD APPLY:
Natural Resources Canada is looking for talented Master’s and PhD graduates who want to join a team that helps grow Canada’s economy, protect the environment, and advance world-leading science.
NRCan’s Policy Analyst Recruitment and Development Program (PARDP) is a two-year program during which you will have two job placements, with increasing responsibilities, a variety of files, and accelerated promotions. You will graduate from the program at the EC-05 group and level, conditional on meeting requirements.
PARDP members come from a variety of backgrounds, and have had the chance to work on many different files. A sampling of our cohorts would yield MA graduates in Public Administration, Economics, International Relations, Sustainable Development, PhD graduates in Chemistry and more. Among other opportunities, you may analyze economic implications of policy options, provide advice to Cabinet on sensitive issues, discuss program design with industry stakeholders, organize international or national trips for the Minister, etc.
You will also enjoy the National Capital Region’s cosmopolitan, bilingual environment and its numerous activities, events and festivals. Ottawa ranks as one of the world's top cities for its quality of life.
HOW THE PROCESS WORKS:
The process begins with your online application. If you are screened in, you will be invited to a first face-to-face interview. Successful candidates will be invited to a final round of interviews, along with a written examination. NRCan will also contact your references.
You must meet all essential qualifications (see below) to be hired. Some qualifications will be assessed through your online application, while others will be assessed later. At each stage, you will be told which qualifications are being assessed.
To begin your online application, you need to click on the “Apply” button at the bottom. It will lead you to an interface with questions and/or text boxes that will allow you to demonstrate how you meet the criteria for the first screening (Education and Experience).
Throughout the process, be thorough in your responses. The Assessment Board may have to reject your application if you do not provide enough information to demonstrate that you meet a criterion, and the Board cannot presume in your favour in such a case. Additionally, we will use your responses as the main source of information, so do not refer us to your CV. However, make sure your CV matches your responses, since it may be used for validation.
You should provide examples that describe when, where and how you obtained your education and experience. Be specific and give details. For example, describe what the situation was, what you did, what you achieved, and what you learned. If your responses lack such details, your application may be rejected. The breadth and depth of experience will also be considered during the selection process and in determining the "right fit" for the organization.
*** IMPORTANT: The criteria "Written Communication" will be assessed through how you write your answers to the online screening questions and later through a written examination.
A pool of qualified candidates may be established through this process to staff identical or similar positions at Natural Resources Canada on an indeterminate or temporary basis, with various language requirements and profiles, various conditions of employment and for various locations.
