Intent of the process

This process will be used to staff two (2) indeterminate positions and one (1) term position of approximately 18 months. A pool of qualified candidates may be established through this process to staff identical or similar positions of different tenures and various language requirements within the Department.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Bachelor degree, recognized in Canada, in an engineering discipline relevant to the duties of the position considered, such as but not limited to: Aerospace, Chemical, Civil, Computer, Electrical, Industrial, Mechanical, Systems,
OR
Eligibility for certification as a professional engineer in Canada with specialization in an engineering specialty relevant to the position (some positions may require eligibility for certification as a professional engineer in Canada without regard for the field of specialization).

Degree equivalency

Approximately seven (7) years of experience within the last ten (10) years in evaluating, analyzing and solving engineering problems and in making recommendations of which, two (2) years in operations or Safety & Mission Assurance (S&MA) problems on space or aerospace projects).

Approximately two (2) years of experience in performing technical verifications of space or aerospace systems

Approximately two (2) years of experience in participating on MRBs (Material Review Boards) and CCB (Configuration Control Board) for hardware or software issues on space or aerospace projects.

Information on language requirements

Knowledge of EEE (Electronic, Electrical and Electromechanical) parts, mechanical parts, or materials and processes used in the manufacture of space systems.

Knowledge of Verification and Validation standards, and Safety and Quality Assurance practices used in the space industry, for both hardware and software.

Ability to communicate effectively orally.

Ability to communicate effectively in writing.

Ability to work under pressure within tight deadlines.

Experience in defining, testing, developing and implementing processes, procedures and audits used in the development of space hardware.

Experience in defining, testing, developing and implementing processes, procedures and audits used in the development of space systems software.

Experience in performing studies related to safety and reliability in the aerospace or military fields.

Experience in performing reviews of contractor-furnished Product Assurance Implementation Plans.

Experience in participating in quality audits of contractor’s design, manufacturing or software development processes.

Experience working on Remote Sensing or scientific satellite systems.

Experience working on the Canadian Space Station Program.

Experience supporting Space or Aerospace operations
