EDUCATION:
Graduation with a degree from a common law OR civil law program offered by a recognized university that is approved by the Bar of one of the provinces or territories of Canada or the Order of Notaries in the province of Quebec as meeting the academic requirements for applying for membership in that Bar.
EXPERIENCE:
- Experience in overseeing AND directing investigations OR representing clients before the Mergers Directorate related matters under Part VIII of the Competition Act (“Act”), including coordinating teams of professionals, such as lawyers, economists and independent experts. (Note that this experience requirement can include responsibility for the review, under the Act, of discrete yet significant portions of complex cases).
- *Significant AND **recent experience interpreting AND applying Part IX of the Act AND the Notifiable Transactions Regulations.
- Experience as a key participant in negotiations with senior officials in other federal departments, other governments, legal counsel AND/OR the private sector.
- Experience in providing strategic advice, briefings AND recommendations to senior officials OR senior business personnel.
- Experience in establishing partnerships/relationships with internal AND external stakeholders.
- Experience in the development of policy advice on competition policy OR law enforcement matters.

*"Significant experience" means the breadth and depth and is defined as a combination of time spent doing the activity, as well as type (range, scope, and complexity) of work handled related to the experience criteria. Clear and specific examples should be provided by candidates in their application.
