This process will serve to create a group of qualified candidates which may be used for similar positions with various tenures, various security clearance levels, various locations, and/or various language requirements.

You must meet all essential qualifications in order to be appointed to the position. Other qualifications may be a deciding factor in choosing the person to be appointed. Education:
Graduation with a degree from a recognized university with specialization in accounting, finance, business administration, commerce or economics AND experience related to positions in the Financial Management Group
OR
Eligibility for a recognized professional accounting designation. The recognized professional accounting designations are Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA), Chartered Accountant (CA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA), Certified General Accountant (CGA).
Experience:
Experience in interpreting and applying policies, guidelines and procedures
Experience in preparing reports with recommendations (including activities such as extracting, compiling and analyzing information)
Experience in providing information to managers for the purpose of decision making

Possess a recognized professional Accounting Designation (i.e. CPA)
Experience in supervision of staff
Experience in working with VACs Social Benefit programs such as Disability Pensions, disability Awards, Treatment, Veterans Independence Program, etc
Experience in working with a Financial Management System (e.g. FreeBalance)
Experience in working with a Salary Management System (e.g. Performance Budgeting & Human Capital)
Experience in providing financial recommendations and advice to managers
Experience in reviewing and analysing costings and Cabinet Submissions
Experience in working with integrated human resources and business planning
Experience working as a member of the Canadian Forces
Organizational Needs:
Preference may be given to Veterans Affairs employees affected by workforce adjustment.
Operational Requirements:
Willingness and ability to work overtime
Occasional travel
May be required to carry a departmentally-issued Blackberry and respond after hours
Reliability Status security clearance - or Secret security clearance.
