There is an immediate need to staff one (2) indeterminate position in Suffield, Alberta. A pool of qualified candidates may be established and may be used to staff similar positions.

You must meet all essential qualifications in order to be appointed to the position. Other qualifications may be a deciding factor in choosing the person to be appointed. Occupational Certification:
OC1 - Possession of a valid unrestricted Class 1 Province of Alberta driver’s licence with air brake endorsement (or provincial or territorial equivalent)
Note: Restriction number one (glasses) is not applicable.
OC2- An acceptable Clean Driver’s Abstract
Experience:
E1 - Experience in the operation of a grader and at least 2 of the following heavy equipment: front-end loader, backhoe, bulldozer or dump truck.
Abilities:
A1 - Ability to complete a road test on the grader and 1 or more of the 2 pieces of heavy equipment as per candidate’s experience
A2 - Ability to carry out and operate the daily inspections of heavy equipment and identify equipment malfunctions
A3 – Ability to demonstrate proper lifting techniques for changing cutting edge
A4 – Ability to lift 25 kg.
A5 - Ability to communicate orally

Operational Requirements
- Must be willing to work a shift schedule
- Must be willing and able to work overtime as authorized
- Willing and able to attend employer directed training
- Willing and able to perform tractor trailer assignments
- Willing and able to work in adverse weather conditions
- Willing and able to obtain and retain a DND 404
- Willing and able to maintain and produce a driver’s log book
- Must wear CSA approved safety footwear and other personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Lift and carry items weighing up to 25 kg in accordance with general safety practices as required

- Transportation of Dangerous Goods
- Forklift Certification
- Heavy Equipment Certification Training
- Conflict Resolution
- Snow and Ice Ops

Experience:
AE1 - Experience in long haul driving
AE2 – Experience in the transportation of dangerous goods
AE3 – Experience in snow removal operations
AE4 - Experience in basic road construction
AE5 - Experience in road maintenance

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

- Possession of a valid unrestricted Class 1 driver’s licence with air brake endorsement valid in the province of work
- An acceptable driver’s abstract dated no later than 90 days before the date of appointment which a candidate is notified of being considered for appointment
