The Department of National Defence (DND) is one of the largest federal government employers. DND's role is to provide services and support to the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) in their operations and missions at home and abroad. As a civilian employee, you will be an essential part of the Defence Team.
Wing Comox is situated in the Comox Valley. Situated halfway up the east coast of Vancouver Island, this community of 65,000 is surrounded by the sea and mountains. Outdoor enthusiasts can enjoy alpine ski runs with ocean views, Nordic skiing in ancient forest, mountain biking in local mountains, scuba diving and sea kayaking for ocean exploration, and golfing almost year around, at one of many scenic golf courses.
The intent of this process is to fill one immediate vacancy. A pool of qualified
candidates resulting from this process may be created to staff current and
future vacancies, and may be used to staff similar positions with various
tenures (permanent and temporary), various language requirements and
profiles, and various security requirements.

Education:
EDU1: Graduation with a degree or diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution focusing on GIS technology or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or work experience.
Experience
EX1: Experience in utilizing Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
EX2: Experience in modifying, design, development, and implementation of GIS projects and field work.
EX3: Experience in the creation and maintenance of spatial data as well as the analysis of GIS data.
EX4: Experience in structuring a geodatabase.
EX5: Experience in analyzing and managing geo-spatial data.
EX6: Experience in developing and conducting GIS based projects.
Asset Qualifications
AEX1: Experience/familiarization working with the military or in a military environment as it pertains to conducting GIS operations.
AEX2: Experience conducting GIS work in an Airfield environment or at large construction/facilities sites etc.

A valid, unrestricted driver’s licence holding a qualification (class) equivalent to the DND vehicle to be driven/operated.
Ability to obtain and maintain a DND 404 Military Driver’s Licence.
