Health Canada is responsible for the coordination of this recruitment process on behalf of participating organizations.
The duties increase in complexity and breadth as the levels progress:
- Track and report on regulatory activities that support regulatory project management and contribute to development of regulatory proposals, including cost-benefit analysis
- Conduct research, synthesize information, and generate analyses to support recommendations to Senior Management on complex issues both verbally and in writing.
- Analyze complex horizontal issues and provide strategic advice through written briefing notes, reports, presentations or correspondence on policy or program issues to support senior analysts and managers
- Build and maintain partnerships with various internal and external stakeholders.
The Government of Canada is seeking highly motivated individuals who have an interest in Canada’s regulatory agenda, and who possess good judgment, analytical skills, leadership potential and the ability to work in a team. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to analyze and contribute to the development and enforcement of regulatory policy.
This process will be used to create an inventory of partially assessed candidates and to staff the following positions:
Regulatory Policy (EC-02 to EC-05, REG-04 to REG-05, SG-SRE-02 to SG-SRE-05) in areas such as: policy development; regulatory affairs; epidemiology, bio-statistical or other research; project coordination; economic analysis; or compliance and enforcement.

EDUCATION:
EC and REG Positions:
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in economics, sociology or statistics.
SG-SRE and REG Positions:
Graduation with a degree from a recognized university with acceptable specialization in biology, chemistry, biochemistry, chemical engineering, toxicology, food science, microbiology, mechanical engineering, pharmacy or some other specialty related to the position.
Applicants must always have a degree. The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and may have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily within a degree program in the required specialization. The specialization may also be obtained through an acceptable combination of post-secondary education, training and experience.

OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION:

EXPERIENCES:
• Experience working in a regulatory environment;
• Experience liaising and consulting with stakeholders;
• Experience writing one of the following: correspondence, reports, papers, briefing notes, agreements or legislative/regulatory amendments.
KNOWLEDGE:
• Understand the role of government and the policy and regulatory development process;
• Understand the varied instruments to achieve public policy outcomes, including, statutes and regulations, voluntary codes of practices, etc.;
• Knowledge of project management processes.

How and when will I be assessed?
- You will receive an unsupervised internet test (PSEE UIT 370) at the end of October to be completed within a five (5) day window.
- If you are successful at the unsupervised test, you will be invited to the supervised in-person test (PSEE 371) that will be administered starting in November 2017.
