A pool of (fully or partially qualified) candidates may be established through this process to staff identical or similar positions at the EN-ENG-04 group and level within Natural Resources Canada with various tenures (determinate period or permanent), various language requirements (English Essential, French Essential, English or French Essential, or Bilingual), linguistic requirements (imperative and/or non-imperative) and profile(s) (BBB/BBB, CBC/CBC, CCC/CCC, etc.), various security requirements (Reliability status or Secret clearance), various conditions of employment and for various locations.

You must meet all essential qualifications in order to be appointed to the position. Other qualifications may be a deciding factor in choosing the person to be appointed. Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in mechanical engineering, civil engineering, electrical engineering, aeronautical engineering, geological engineering, naval architecture or some other engineering specialty relevant to the duties of the position.
Eligibility for certification as a professional engineer in Canada with specialization in an engineering specialty relevant to the position (some positions may require eligibility for certification as a professional engineer in Canada without regard for the field of specialization).
Significant* experience in planning and managing technical studies or projects
Significant* experience in providing technical advice and support to senior officials, professionals or the general public on complex technical and engineering issues or projects
Significant* experience in making recommendations to solve complex technical problems
Experience working with stakeholders and external groups on technical issues or projects (e.g. industry, academia, clients, research centers, governments)
Experience in supervising staff or contractors
Experience is defined as work-related experience acquired following graduation from a post-secondary institution.
*Significant experience is defined as the depth and breadth of experience (i.e. scope/degree of experience, exposure to various activities or complex cases, level of exposure, etc.) that would be usually acquired over a minimum of four (4) years.

Holds a project management certification or an IT management certification.
Experience in conducting studies or projects relating to mechanical or electrical engineering in commercial/institutional building, low-rise housing or industrial sectors
Experience in energy management, such as conducting energy audits/evaluations, energy modelling or energy retrofits in the commercial/institutional building, industrial facilities or low-rise housing sector
Experience in energy benchmarking programs in the commercial/institutional building, low-rise housing or industrial sector
Experience with the design, manufacture or testing of energy using equipment (e.g. heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration; lighting; electronics; appliances; industrial equipment) or manufacturing technologies and systems for industrial processes
Experience evaluating technologies that relate to vehicle fuel efficiency, transportation energy use or emissions
Experience in the development of national and international standards
Experience with the technical interpretation of building codes and standards
Experience with the federal regulatory process
Experience managing or testing software
