Stream 1 - Regional Coordinator Water Resources : positions are located in Iqaluit (Nunavut)
Stream 2 - Water Resources Officer : positions are located in Iqaluit, Rankin Inlet and Cambridge Bay (Nunavut)
The salary range for this group and level is $67,565-$82,200 (salary under revision) plus northern allowance and vacation travel assistance. This position may also come with subsidized Crown housing. Stream 1: Regional Coordinator Water Resources
Regional Coordinator Water Resources are responsible for coordinating the departmental review of applications made to the Nunavut Water Board for any water use and waste disposal projects (such as municipal, exploration, mineral development, and research projects) that have the potential to impact fresh water quality and quantity as well as preparing and presenting departmental interventions at Nunavut Water Board public hearings.
Stream 2: Water Resources Officer
Water Resources Officers, under the direction of the Manager of Field Operations, are responsible for planning and organizing a compliance and enforcement program in their region including an on-site inspection program to ensure compliance with the terms and conditions of permits, licenses, leases, environmental agreements and other authorities. The Water Resources Officer will conduct on-site inspections which will required travel to remote areas of Nunavut by vehicle, aircraft, boat and snowmobile.

Preference will be given to Inuit enrolled under the Nunavut Agreement (e.g. Beneficiaries of the Nunavut Land Claims Agreement) who are found qualified in this staffing process.
The intent of this process is to staff different positions in various locations (Iqaluit - Cambridge Bay - Rankin Inlet). There are at least two positions to be staffed in each of the streams (term and indeterminate).
A qualified pool of candidates resulting from this staffing process will be established and may be used to fill similar positions at Indigenous and Northern Affairs Canada and other Federal Departments and Agencies in Nunavut with various tenures (Specified Period, Assignment, Indeterminate, Acting, Secondment, *Interchange Canada) depending on the position being staffed. Once established, the qualified pool will be valid for 2 years with the possibility of being extended.

EDUCATION:
Streams 1 and 2
• The minimum standard is : A secondary school diploma or employer approved alternatives.
EMPLOYER APPROVED ALTERNATIVES:
1. A satisfactory score on the PSC test approved as an alternative to two years of secondary school; or
2. An acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
EXPERIENCE:
Stream 1
• Experience related to water monitoring, environmental assessment, project management or inspection and compliance.

• Experience consulting with clients and stakeholders.

• Experience in identifying and advising on regulatory requirements pertaining to water management.

•Experience in environmental inspections and water management related work.

• A diploma and/or degree in Resource Management or Environmental Sciences from a recognized college and/or university.

• Experience in the review and analysis of industrial and municipal undertakings and their impacts on water resources.

• Experience working in a cross-cultural environment as it relates to Inuit Culture and Values.
