This position is located in Iqaluit, Nunavut. The salary range for this position is $81982- $97558, plus northern allowance and vacation travel assistance. This position may also come with subsidized Crown housing. Evaluation of water licence applications and resource development proposals for compliance with legislation, regulations (e.g. Nunavut Waters and Nunavut Surface Rights Tribunal Act, Nunavut Waters Regulations), and department policy; professional expertise, guidance and consulting services to the department, proponents, other federal and territorial government agencies, Inuit and First Nations organizations and stakeholders on technical, engineering and policy issues related to water management in Nunavut and preparation of technical papers to provide the results of additional research or study of project-related influences on water management in Nunavut from specific development components or mitigations in the environmental assessment and/or water licensing phases of review.

Inuit enrolled under the Nunavut Agreement (e.g. Beneficiaries of the Nunavut Land Claims Agreement) who are found qualified in this staffing process will be appointed ahead of other qualified applicants.

A qualified pool of candidates resulting from this staffing process will be established and may be used to fill similar positions at Indigenous and Northern Affairs Canada and other Federal Departments and Agencies located in the North with various tenures (Specified Period, Indeterminate, Acting, Assignement, Secondment, *Interchange Canada) depending on the position being staffed.

EDUCATION:
• Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution, with acceptable Specialization in physics, geology, chemistry or some other science relevant to the position.
EXPERIENCE:
• *Significant experience in conducting technical review of project development applications to characterize potential impacts and mitigations to water.
* Significant experience is generally gained over a period of approximately two years.
• Experience in identifying the need for and managing contracts with independent consulting companies within fixed timelines.
• Experience in providing advice to senior management.
• Experience with the use of computer software programs for word processing, spreadsheets and presentations.

KNOWLEDGE:
• Knowledge of environmental sciences related to water and to water resource management in Nunavut.
• Knowledge of legislation, regulations, policies and governance related to water resource Management in Nunavut.
ABILITIES:
• Ability to interpret environmental data and critique technical reports and submissions related to water.
• Ability to design and lead multi-disciplinary scientific and technical reviews with respect to potential impacts to water.
• Ability to communicate effectively (oral, written and listening).
• Ability to prepare reports and correspondence and to deliver presentations.
• Ability to establish priorities and meet deadlines.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION:
• Master degree in relevant field.
EXPERIENCE:
• Experience working in a Northern environment.
• Experience working in a multi-cultural environment, specifically as it relates to Inuit culture and values.
• Experience with project management.
KNOWLEDGE:
• Knowledge of roles and responsibilities of government and institutes of public government in Nunavut.
ABILITIES:
• Ability to communicate in lnuktitut.
ORGANIZATIONAL NEEDS:
• lndigenous Peoples: Preference given to candidates self-identifying as Inuit enrolled under the Nunavut Agreement.
OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
