Intent of the process

This process will be used to establish a pool of partially- or fully-qualified candidates, which may be used by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada to staff similar positions at an equivalent group and level with various linguistic profiles, various security profiles and various tenures across Canada. Based on organizational needs, candidates will be randomly selected* from the inventory for assessment purposes.

*Random selection is a strategy that is sometimes used to manage applicant volume. It identifies a sub-sample of applicants by applying the element of chance using criteria identified by the hiring organization. The Public Service Resourcing System - the electronic system used to advertise this job opportunity and receive and select applications - will perform the random selection function in this process.

ED1. A secondary school diploma OR the employer-approved alternative*.

* The employer approved alternative is an acceptable combination of education and experience defined as follows:
Education: successful completion of two years of secondary school; AND
Experience: two years of experience working in a field relevant to the position(s).

Degree equivalency

ALL STREAMS
EX1. At least six (6) months cumulative experience performing general administrative or clerical duties in an office environment, such as drafting correspondence, data entry, responding to inquiries, maintaining files, ordering office supplies, etc.
EX2. Experience using Microsoft Office Suite, such as Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint (or an equivalent software).
EX3. Experience performing data entry, manipulation, verification or retrieval in an automated system or software such as spreadsheets or databases.

STREAM 1
EX4. Experience providing logistical support for meetings.

AEX1. Experience providing support services in Human Resources.

AEX5. Experience using an integrated financial system* such as SAP or Oracle.
*An integrated financial system is an application that manages spending, payment processing, budgeting and reporting. This type of software envelopes various financial management functions into one software.
AEX6. Experience working in an office environment within the Federal Government.

STREAM 1
AEX7. Experience providing administrative support to a Director (or above) in the Public Service, such as managing a Director's calendar, drafting and assembling correspondence, coordinating travel arrangements and processing travel claims, coordinating Access to Information and Privacy (ATIP) requests, etc.
AEX8. Experience using the HRG Shared Travel Services portal.

STREAM 2
AEX9. Experience working in PeopleSoft.
AEX10. Experience working in the Global Case Management System (GCMS).
AEX11. Experience working as a Human Resources Assistant in the Federal Public Service.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Availability, willingness and ability to work overtime, as required, including evenings, nights and weekends*.
*May be required for some positions.
