This position is located at CanNor headquarters in Iqaluit, Nunavut. Candidates applying from outside of Iqaluit must be willing to relocate to Iqaluit. Relocation assistance is available.
The salary range for this position is: $89,415 to $96,461 plus applicable allowances (approximately $18,000-$32,000/year), as well as vacation travel assistance (approximately $2,000-$3,000 per person (i.e. the employee and eligible dependents, including spouse/common-law partner), twice per year). Rates and conditions subject to change.

The Canadian Northern Economic Development Agency (CanNor) is looking for a highly motivated and experienced individual who is interested in managing its administrative services in support of the Agency’s work with northern communities, businesses, and territorial government.
Duties of the position include:
• Managing the delivery of accommodation, security, information management and technology services for offices in Iqaluit, Yellowknife, Whitehorse and Ottawa;
• Identifying and implementing innovative administrative service delivery in the northern context; and,
• Establishing and maintaining effective business relationships with a wide variety of clients, partners, external service providers and stakeholders.
Established in August 2009, the Canadian Northern Economic Development Agency (CanNor) is the only federal department with an exclusive mandate for the North. The headquarters of CanNor are located in Iqaluit, Nunavut. CanNor also has regional offices in Yukon and the Northwest Territories, and a liaison office in Ottawa.
CanNor works to develop a diversified, sustainable and dynamic economy across Canada’s three territories, delivering a suite of programs that directly impact Northerners’ lives, and supports a multitude of projects ranging from clean technology (solar panels, wind farms, biomass), to mining and resource development, to Indigenous entrepreneurs and small business start-ups, to local community and territorial infrastructure.
As the smallest of the Government of Canada’s five regional development agencies (less than 100 staff in total), CanNor provides a unique opportunity for individuals looking to be part of a small but dynamic organization that leverages its expertise to tackle some serious, high-profile socio-economic issues!
The intent of this process is to fill one full-time indeterminate (permanent) position in Iqaluit, Nunavut.
Inuit enrolled under the Nunavut Agreement (e.g. Beneficiaries of the Nunavut Land Claims Agreement) who are found qualified in this staffing process will be appointed ahead of other qualified applicants.
Applicants will be considered in the following order:
(1) Those who identify themselves as Inuit enrolled under the Nunavut Agreement (e.g. Beneficiaries of the Nunavut Land Claims Agreement);
(2) If there are no qualified Inuit enrolled under the Nunavut Agreement, all other applicants will be considered for these positions.
A Pool of qualified candidates resulting from this process may be used other federal organizations operating in Nunavut.

A secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
E1: Significant* experience in managing** the delivery of services in at least two of the following fields: accommodations, security, information technology or information management (IM/IT).
E2: Experience in developing and implementing procedures and policies in at least two of the following fields: accommodations, security, information technology, information management, or Access to Information and privacy (ATIP).
E3: Experience in managing financial resources.
E4: Experience in providing advice, options and recommendations to senior management*** on accommodations, security, or IM/IT service delivery at the organizational level.
*Significant means experience associated with having performed a broad range of related activities which could normally be acquired over a period of three years or more.
**Managing service delivery means planning and implementing service delivery through the work of one or more subordinate employees who are direct reports.
***Senior management is defined as equivalent to Director and above.
