The intent of this process is to create a pool of candidates to staff anticipated permanent and/or temporary vacancies. Other departments may be able to use this pool.

You must meet all essential qualifications in order to be appointed to the position. Other qualifications may be a deciding factor in choosing the person to be appointed. EDUCATION
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in economics, sociology or statistics.
*Candidates must always have a degree. The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and may have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily within a degree program in the required specialization. The specialization may also be obtained through an acceptable combination of education (e.g. business/public administration or political sciences), training and/or experience.
EXPERIENCE
• Experience* in developing and providing strategic policy advice on various issues to senior officials**.
• Experience* in leading analysis on complex economic policy issues, including the preparation of briefing material for senior officials**.
• Experience* administering or coordinating complex (multi-faceted) committees or files in a fast-paced work environment.
• Experience* in developing and maintaining collaborative working relationships with partners and stakeholders, such as other levels of government/other government departments (e.g., federal, provincial, municipal, First Nation).
* Experience
Normally acquired through the performance of a broad range of related activities in the field of work in question. Such experience is normally acquired through full-time employment over a period of 2 years in the last five years.

Refers to positions within an organization/business/government with the authority to make meaningful decisions such as Director, Director General, Vice President, Assistant Deputy Minister, Board Chair, and Executive Director

OTHER EDUCATION
Masters degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in a field relevant to the duties of the position (such as public/business administration, economics, statistics, political science, commerce).
OTHER EXPERIENCE
Experience analyzing and developing policy options on one or more of the priority areas of the Government of Canada in Atlantic Canada (innovation, trade and investment, clean growth/climate change, skills/immigration, infrastructure development).
ORGANIZATIONAL NEEDS
In support of achieving a represented workforce, current or future organizational needs may require consideration be given to candidates self-identifying as belonging to one of the following Employment Equity groups: women, members of visible minorities, persons with disabilities, and Aboriginal peoples.
OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
• Ability and willingness to travel occasionally.
• Valid driver’s licence required or personal mobility to a degree normally associated with the possession of a driver’s licence.
• Ability and willingness to work occasional overtime when required.
Reliability Status security clearance - Security level will be based on the position to be staffed. (Reliability or Secret security clearance)
