The Department of National Defence (DND) is one of the largest federal government employers, offering over 70 different types of civilian career opportunities. DND's role is to provide services and support to the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) in their operations and missions at home and abroad. You must meet all essential qualifications in order to be appointed to the position. Other qualifications may be a deciding factor in choosing the person to be appointed. Successful completion of two years of secondary school education according to provincial/territorial standards.
Experience in warehousing or inventory management.
Experience providing customer service.
Completion of a certified warehousing apprenticeship course, such as the Parts and Warehousing Person 1 or Logistics and Distribution Person 2 or 3.
Experience working within the Defense Supply Chain (DSC) and its applications, such as DRMIS.
Experience having worked in a warehouse or distribution facility including receiving, shipping or internal distribution of goods.
Experience operating various types of Material Handling Equipment, such as forklifts, pallet jacks or stock pickers.
Experience using SAP based Material Management programs and software.
Experience in handling hazardous material.
Experience interpreting federal and provincial legislation governing the handling, storage and disposal of material.
Experience using Microsoft Office suite, warehousing program or accounting program.

Organizational Need:

Operational Requirements:
Required to wear CSA approved safety footwear and other Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as directed.
Required to work in inclement weather conditions.
Required to travel.
Required to work overtime and occasionally on weekends and holidays.
Required to work shifts.
May be required to work in a warehouse environment with minimal supervision.
Security Clearance – Various.
Possession of a valid B.C. Driver’s license or provincial/territorial equivalent (minimum class “7N” upgraded to class “5” within 30 months of hiring date).
Eligible and willing to obtain and maintain a DND 404.
Required to perform physically demanding tasks in accordance with safety practices, including: safely lift 20kg, climb ladders, walk over uneven terrain.
Completion of the GS-STS-04 on-the-job training requirements within 12 months of hiring date.
