A pool of partially qualified candidates will be established through this process to staff identical or similar positions within Public Services and Procurement Canada with various tenures and security requirements, which may vary according to the position being staffed.

You must meet all essential qualifications in order to be appointed to the position. Other qualifications may be a deciding factor in choosing the person to be appointed. Some essential and other qualifications will be assessed through your application. It is your responsibility to provide appropriate examples that illustrate how you meet each qualification. EDUCATION
A secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training, and/or experience in a field relevant to the position.
EXPERIENCE
• Experience in the application and/or interpretation of government or corporate policies and/or technical standards.
• Experience in conducting research and analysis from a variety of sources.
• Experience in providing advice and recommendations to management* or clients.
• Experience in liaising with stakeholders.
*Management is defined as a person holding the title of manager or director or above (e.g. president), who have the power and responsibility to make decisions and oversee an organization or enterprise in either the private or public sector.
ASSET EDUCATION
A successful completion of a post-secondary education program in a field related to the position (e.g. criminology, law, emergency management, etc.) or an acceptable combination of education or training*, and experience*.
*Education – at least 350 hours; Training – more than five (5) specialized courses or a professional certification of security; Experience – at least three (3) years in a relevant field.
ASSET EXPERIENCE
• Recent* experience in the field of physical security.
• Experience in the field of emergency preparedness, business continuity planning, and/or response activities.
• Experience in participating as part of a project team.
• Experience in conducting analysis and assessments.
• Recent* experience in providing advice and guidance to employees and/or management regarding the interpretation and/or application of procedures or activities.
• Experience working with an access control system or alarm system.
• Experience working with locking mechanisms; for example, resetting cabinet or safe combinations.
• Experience in developing and delivering training sessions.
• Experience working as a company or Unit Security Officer (USO).
*Recent is defined as a depth and range of experience that is normally found in someone who has worked in this field approximately in the last five (5) years.

ORGANIZATIONAL NEEDS

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
• Must be willing and able to travel, if required and on short notice.
• Must be willing and able to work longer hours on short notice.
• Candidates may be called to work in confined space (e.g. heating and tunnel installations) and to climb stairs to conduct extensive safety inspections of the building.
• Ability to work outdoors on occasion, and in any season.

Candidates may be required to meet the asset qualifications or the organizational needs, depending on the requirements of the specific position being staffed.

Random or top down selection may be used as screening methods at various stages throughout this selection process in order to manage the number of applications.
