Please note Fraser And Interior Area Stock Assessment is retiring all existing BI-02 pools effective December 31, 2017. If you are currently a qualified applicant in any Fraser Stock Assessment BI-02 Pool, and you wish to be considered for any future employment opportunities with Fraser Stock Assessment (StA) at this level, you will need to re-apply on this process.
The resulting pool will be used to staff Biologist positions within the Fraser Interior Stock Assessment Program at full or part time hours on a Casual, Term or Indeterminate basis. It may also be used for similar positions within Fisheries and Oceans in the Pacific Region.

EDUCATION:
Graduation with a degree from a recognized university in a natural, physical or applied science with specialization in a field relevant to the duties of the position.
EXPERIENCE:
• Experience in conducting stock assessments of anadromous salmonids.
• Experience in quantitative analysis of biological data using computer software to analyse and report results.

• Proficiency in the use of R statistical software or a similar statistical language

ORGANIZATIONAL NEEDS:

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
• May be required to work and live in remote field camps and locations for periods up to 8 weeks annually.

• May be required to carry a firearm for wildlife defence.
• May be required to work overtime, weekends, variable hours and shift work to meet operational needs.
Reliability Status security clearance
• A valid BC Class 5 driver's licence.
• Health Canada Medical Clearance.

• Work overtime including occasional weekends, variable hours and shift work.
• Travel to attend meetings and/or conduct field work.
• Work and live in remote field camps and locations for periods up to 8 weeks annually.
• Attain training and maintain certifications for mandatory Health & Safety and departmental requirements.
