The Heritage Group is looking for a passionate and dynamic individual who will create an innovative culture to advance the Directorate’s practices, programs and policies on a national and international scale.

Intent of the process

This process will be used to staff the above-mentioned position.

A pool of partially qualified candidates may be established through this process to staff similar positions. All federal organizations listed in the Schedules I, IV and V of the Financial Administration Act (FAA) may use this selection process to staff a similar position in their organization.

EDUCATION
Graduation with a degree from a recognized university.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE
Recent* and significant experience** in leading the development of strategies, policies or programs within the cultural sector.

Significant experience** in analyzing and resolving complex*** issues and providing strategic advice to senior management.

Significant experience** in establishing strategic alliances or collaborations.

Experience in leading change.

Significant experience** in managing human and financial resources.

*Recent is defined as within the last three (3) years.

**Significant experience is defined as the depth, breadth and diversity of experience normally acquired through performing a broad range of various, complex activities over a period of approximately three (3) years within the last five (5) years.

***Complex issues are issues with at least three of the following characteristics: multidimensional (international), sensitive, confidential, affecting many partners or stakeholders, precedent setting, having a major impact on program delivery for the public or having a potential for significant media coverage.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS
Graduation with a post-graduate degree from a recognized university in a field relevant to the duties of the position.

Degree equivalency

Experience, in a leadership role, in the domain of learning, publishing or digital communication.

Experience, in a leadership role, in the domain of digital technology or digital preservation.

Experience in providing guidance and training to cultural institutions.

Experience in using social media.

Recent* experience in providing strategic leadership to the museum or archive community.

*Recent is defined as within the last three (3) years.

Information on language requirements

KNOWLEDGE
Knowledge of emerging digital technologies including Linked Open Data.

Knowledge of the Canadian heritage sector.
