Intent of the process

This process is anticipatory. A pool of qualified candidates will be established to staff similar positions at the Competition Bureau with various tenures (indeterminate or term positions) and various linguistic profiles and requirements (Bilingual Imperative: BBB/BBB or French or English essential).

Please note that your answers to the screening questions will be used to assess communication skills.

You must meet all essential qualifications in order to be appointed to the position. Other qualifications may be a deciding factor in choosing the person to be appointed. In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

EDUCATION:
Graduation with a degree from a common law or civil law program offered by a recognized university that is approved by the bar of one of the provinces or territories of Canada or the Order of Notaries in the province of Quebec as meeting the academic requirements for applying for membership in that bar.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE:
A minimum of three (3) years’ experience working as a lawyer in competition law, corporate law or commercial litigation within the last five (5) years.

Experience assessing and managing competition law, corporate law or commercial litigation cases, including by evaluating the relevance of associated evidence.

Experience communicating with or providing legal advice to external stakeholders.

If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)

Graduation with a degree in economics, commerce or business administration.

Degree equivalency

Experience in litigating matters before courts or tribunals.

Experience assessing issues under the Competition Act.

Knowledge of the Competition Act and related jurisprudence, as well as the Competition Bureau’s policies and enforcement guidelines related to Part VIII of the Competition Act.
