Working in a correctional institutional environment with offenders and staff members.
Provision of assistance in the preparation, distribution and service of meals and preparation and distribution of groceries to offenders in an institution of the Correctional Service of Canada or a Regional Food Production Centre (RFPC).
Training of offenders in the area of Food Services to improve their employability skills and behaviours.
A pool of partially / fully assessed candidates may be established through this selection process to staff positions with various tenures and language requirements across Canada. A local pool of qualified candidates may be established for acting appointments.

You must meet all essential qualifications in order to be appointed to the position. Other qualifications may be a deciding factor in choosing the person to be appointed. EDUCATION
Successful completion of two years of secondary school or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience
EXPERIENCE
For GS-FOS-03 and GS-FOS-02 positions:
Recent experience working in food services within a commercial or institutional setting
Note: The above experience may have been obtained while serving as a member in the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) .
KNOWLEDGE
Knowledge of food preparation and service techniques (e.g. portion control, measuring ingredients, operating kitchen equipment etc.)
Knowledge of preparation and food handling procedures
Knowledge of workplace safety requirements, hygiene and sanitation practices
Knowledge of safe lifting and carrying techniques
ABILITIES
Ability to perform simple mathematical calculations accurately
Ability to communicate effectively orally
Ability to provide training

EDUCATION
Successful completion of a secondary school diploma
Possession of a valid recognized Safe Food Handling Program certification
Professional Culinary Art diploma
