Activities
-Provides input to the Canadian Health Measures Survey (CHMS) team on policies and procedures related to biological specimen selection, collection, analysis, shipping and storage.
-Ensures that the CHMS mobile examination centre adheres to laboratory standards and quality control/assurance procedures.
-Participates in monitoring and overseeing the performance of the CHMS reference laboratories.
-Participates in meetings and initiates processes to foster working relationships with the CHMS reference laboratories.
-Interprets, review and generates planning documents, proposals and papers.
-Participates in the preparation of analytical reports and basic tables for data validation using survey data.
-Assists in the development and delivery of CHMS laboratory staff training.
A pool of qualified candidates may be established to staff similar or identical positions with various linguistic profiles, tenures or security clearances option within Statistics Canada.

Education
Bachelor degree from a recognized university with specialization in a biological, chemical, or health science-related field.
Experience
-Minimum of 1 year experience within the last 5 years working in a clinical or research laboratory.
-Experience in developing, implementing and monitoring quality control/assurance or compliance programs for health related laboratory activities.
-Experience in researching, planning, organizing and coordinating laboratory activities (e.g. sample collection, shipping, storage, aliquoting, sample analysis, etc).
-Experience liaising and consulting on scientific content with other federal departments/agencies, non-governmental organizations, or private sector representatives.
Asset Education
-Post-graduate degree in a relevant laboratory sciences related discipline.
-Member of a laboratory sciences association, society, or professional body.
Asset Experiences
-Recent experience in using SAS*
-Experience in the critical review of data and analytical methods related to a variety of biomarkers.
-Experience in human specimen biobanking.
-Experience in human genetics
*Recent experience is defined as being normally acquired during the past two (2) years.
