Excellence in client services is dependent on the quality of data and the ability of clients to use the information effectively and efficiently. Patent Business Intelligence and Information Management Services (PBIIMS) is the hub of Patent Branch expertise for developing and maintaining tools, procedures that ensure the security, integrity, accuracy and completeness of all Patent Related Information Holdings (PRIH) within its information systems.
As a Senior Data Analyst, you are responsible for the development, ongoing support, maintenance and improvement of the Patent Branch specific work applications, databases and macros. You provide technical support, coaching and guidance to the above mentioned systems. You are responsible for performance monitoring, tuning, improvement and changes to the Patent Branch work tools. You are responsible for the acceptance and production environments and you will be responsible to do testing in UAT (often during weekends) to ensure the proper functionalities of patches and system updates.
CIPO is a self-sustaining Special Operating Agency of Industry Canada which generates revenue and manages a revolving fund, is responsible for the administration, processing and granting the greater part of intellectual property rights in Canada. The Patent Branch is responsible for the examination and registration of patents, and is obligated to maintain accurate information throughout the lifecycle of the prosecution of patent applications and registrations.
The intent of this process is to fill three (3) positions on an indeterminate basis.
A pool of qualified candidates may be created and may be used to fill similar positions, for :
* various tenures (*indeterminate*, term, acting, assignment or secondment),
* various language requirements (BBB/BBB,CBC/CBC,English Essential, French essential, English or French) and/or
* various security requirements (Enhanced Reliability, secret).

Education:
A secondary school diploma or combination of education, training and/or experience.
Significant* experience in design and conceptual skills to capture, translate and design business requirements and develop them into applications, interfaces and work tools.
Significant* and recent** experience in the development of comprehensive documentation including user manuals, technical manual, training material.
Significant* and recent** experience in complex SQL (Structured Query Language) techniques.
Significant* and recent** experience in VBA, VBS, VB6 and XML languages.
*Significant experience refers to the depth and breadth of experience normally associated with having performed a broad range of various, complex related activities as the MAIN function.
** "Recent" is defined as acquired within the last three (3) years.
Education asset:
Successful completion of two years of a post-secondary program with specialization in Computer Sciences and/or Information Technology.
Experience:
Experience in supervising.
Bilingual - Imperative (BBB/BBB)
