The intent of this selection process is to staff one (1) indeterminate english essential and reliable position in Yellowknife. Please note that a pool of qualified candidates may be established and may be used to staff identical or similar positions within Environment and Climate Change Canada in Yellowknife with various tenures (Indeterminate, Determinate, Deployment, Acting, Assignment and extensions) and with various security profiles (Reliability or Secret).

EDUCATION
ED1 - Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution, with acceptable specialization in physics, geology, chemistry or some other science relevant to the position.
EXPERIENCE
EXP1 - Experience in researching or providing technical advice in relation to environmental studies or environmental assessments or environmental programs.
EXP2 - Experience in preparing reports or presentations.
EXP3 - Experience in collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
ASSET QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
AED1 - Advanced degree from a recognized university in in a field related to the position.
EXPERIENCE
AEXP1 - Experience in managing complex or controversial issues.
AEXP2 - Experience in conducting Indigenous or stakeholder consultations.
AEXP3 - Experience with federal, provincial, and/or territorial environmental assessment processes.
AEXP4 - Experience with federal, provincial, and/or territorial regulatory permitting processes.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Security: Reliability Status.
- Must be willing and able to travel; this may include travel to industrial facilities and remote field sites and travel to remote locations by charter aircraft and on small boats.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license (class 5 or equivalent).
- Must be willing and able to work overtime and irregular hours; this may include weekends, statutory /territorial holidays.

A pass mark will be established for each qualification. However, achieving the pass mark is not guarantee of an appointment or that candidates will be put through the next stages of the assessment process. A cut-off score (in other words, establishing a higher threshold than the pass mark and selecting only the candidates who meet this threshold) and a top-down approach (in other words, establishing a maximum number of candidates who can proceed to the next assessment stage) may be used at any step if there is a sufficient number of candidates to meet immediate and anticipated staffing needs.
Asset qualifications may be used in the screening process. Therefore candidates must clearly demonstrate in their application how they meet the asset criteria for education and experience.
