Intent of the process

Intent of the process is to staff a position for a temporary period.

A pool of qualified candidates may be established to staff positions within Summits Management Office with various language requirements and/or various linguistic profiles. Tenures may vary according to the positions being staffed.

Candidates must be flexible and willing to work overtime and travel on short notice. Candidates may also be asked to relocate for a short period of time to the summit site, if needed. The duration of the term may be terminated early with a month’s notice. The Summits Management Office will be responsible for paying all expenses relating to salary, transportation, accommodation and overtime worked.

A covering letter in 800 words (maximum) "Please explain why you are interested in working for the Official Events team in the Summits Management Office. Your cover letter must describe ‘why you would be the ideal candidate for this position’."

EDUCATION
- Graduation with a degree* from a recognized post-secondary institution** or college diploma in a field related to the duties of this position or have an acceptable combination of education, professional training and experience.

Note

*Degree : A baccalaureate or higher level degree, as established by educational authorities, unless the type of credential is specified in the relevant Qualification Standard.

**Recognized post-secondary institution :A public or private institution that has been given authority to grant degrees, diplomas, and other credentials by a public or private act of a provincial/territorial legislature or through a government-mandated quality assurance mechanism. For greater certainty, also included are institutions authorized to grant specific academic credentials for specific academic programs.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE
- Experience in leading the planning, organization and execution of official events*.
- Experience in providing advice to management** relating to the logistics planning and execution of official events*.
- Experience in managing protocol services for official events*.
- Experience in the management of contracting processes including negotiating requirements for goods, services and resources for official events*.
- Experience in managing or leading a multidisciplinary team for the delivery of official events*.

* “Official events” include official hospitality, cultural events, official meals, and working meals for high level foreign dignitaries and Guests of Government.
** “Management” is defined as the level of director and above, or the equivalent in the private sector.

Secret security clearance

- Willingness and ability to relocate within Canada, for a period of up to 3 months.
