Health Canada is the Federal department responsible for helping Canadians maintain and improve their health, while respecting individual choices and circumstances.
A pool of qualified candidates will be established and may be used to staff similar term and/or permanent positions, actings, assignments/secondments, or deployments in Saskatchewan.
The intent is to staff this position via the Aboriginal Peoples Employment Program, which aims to strategically increase Aboriginal representation within the First Nations and Inuit Health Branch. As such, Organizational Needs may be applied and first consideration may be given to candidates self-identifying as belonging to Aboriginal peoples.

Education:
Master's Degree in Nursing, or Master's Degree in a relevant field, from a recognized university (1)(2)(3)

Occupational Certification:
Current registration as a Registered Nurse in the province/territory of employment in Canada and a member in good standing in that province/territory; willingness and eligibility to become registered in Saskatchewan at time of appointment.
Experience:
Significant* community health nursing experience
Experience in the design and delivery of a primary health care program
Experience leading a health team (such as public health, acute care, home care or other related field)
Experience representing an organization on committees or working groups
Experience providing strategic advice and recommendations to senior management on health and social policies
Experience negotiating and building partnerships with internal and external stakeholders
Experience working effectively with First Nations, Inuit or Métis

Organizational Needs:
In alignment with the Aboriginal Peoples Employment Program (APEP) in support of increasing Aboriginal representation in areas having the most impact on program delivery and health outcomes of FNIHB’s target population, selection may be limited to candidates self-identifying as belonging to Aboriginal peoples. Aboriginal candidates must use the Affirmation of Aboriginal Affiliation Form (AAAF).
Operational Requirements:
Mobility usually associated with a class V driver's license
Availability for regional and national travel is required. Incumbents may be required to travel by vehicle or small fixed-wing aircraft, and occasionally into remote northern locations
Availability for flexible or irregular work hours
Willingness and ability to work overtime
Overtime in the event of a Public Health emergency or outbreak
Secret security clearance
Continuous professional registration, in good standing, with the Saskatchewan Registered Nurses’ Association
