EDUCATION:
Graduation with a degree (baccalaureate or higher level degree) from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in Economics, Sociology or Statistics, or related degree with an acceptable specialization in economic, sociology or statistics.
Candidates must always have a degree. The courses for the specialization do not necessarily have to be part of a degree program in the required specialization. The specialization may also be obtained through an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

An indeterminate incumbent holding a former ES position June 30, 1967 who became an EC on June 22, 2009, who does not possess the minimum level of education as indicated above is deemed to meet this minimum educational standard based on his/her education, training and/or experience.
EXPERIENCE:
Recent and significant* experience working in evidence-based policy development
Recent and significant* experience providing policy analysis and advice to decision-makers on complex** issues.
Experience in preparing or managing the preparation of comprehensive documents such as: statistical surveys, qualitative and quantitative studies, research reports, position papers, strategic plans and planning documents, Memoranda to Cabinet, Treasury Board submissions and evaluation reports, briefing notes and presentations to senior management.
*Recent and significant experience is defined as the depth and breadth of experience normally acquired through the full-time performance of the duties for a minimum of two (2) years, acquired within the last five (5) years.
**Complex includes items that could refer to: being national in scope; having many elements or dimensions; having significant public visibility; featuring significant involvement by partners or stakeholders; being financially challenging, etc.
ASSET QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION:
Graduate degree in public administration, economics, law, education, indigenous studies or other relevant fields.
EXPERIENCE:
Experience working with or for Indigenous organizations or communities in Canada;
Experience working on Indigenous issues;
Experience engaging with internal and external stakeholders on policy, legislative and/ or regulatory development;
Experience in consulting with other federal government departments or other levels of government;
Experience in preparing Memoranda to Cabinet, Treasury Board submissions or other Cabinet documents;
Experience developing or delivering education policy or programming in Canada;
Experience developing or delivering social policy or programming in Canada.
KNOWLEDGE:
Knowledge of education policy in Canada.
