Provides guidance, services and expertise in the fields of conflict resolution / informal conflict management, as well as values and ethics, to employees and managers of the Correctional Service of Canada (CSC), in order to establish, maintain and restore a positive and productive work environment within CSC and increase individual and organizational conflict competency.
Develops and delivers a broad range of services, advice and interventions aimed at helping resolve or prevent workplace conflicts and ethical dilemmas. This includes, but is not limited to, mediation, facilitation, conflict coaching, group interventions, special workshops designed to develop personal or team conflict management skills, and workplace conflict assessments. Provides expert advice to senior managers, bargaining agent representatives and partners from other disciplines on strategies to prevent or manage conflict situations and ethical dilemmas, as well as communication strategies to help drive cultural change within the organization.
Organization
The Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) is the federal government agency responsible for administering sentences of a term of two years or more, as imposed by the court. CSC is responsible for managing institutions of various security levels and supervising offenders under conditional release in the community.

Challenge
Consultants sometimes provide OCM services at one of CSC’s federal institutions. Therefore, the candidate must be prepared to enter and work within a federal correctional institution.
This process will be used to staff the above-mentioned position for a 1 year term. It may also be used to establish a pool of qualified candidates which could be used to staff similar positions with various tenures.

Graduation with a degree from a recognized university with acceptable specialization in social sciences, psychology, human resources management, labour or industrial relations, public or business administration, organizational development, education sciences, or in any other field relevant to the work to be performed.
AND
A minimum of 75 hours of conflict management / alternate dispute resolution / mediation training from a recognized Institution.
Recent* experience in designing and conducting informal conflict management processes including coaching, facilitated discussion, mediation or group facilitation as an Informal Conflict Management Service (ICMS) practitioner or obtained through related work in social, health, human resources or legal fields.
Recent* experience in the design and delivery of training and awareness sessions in an adult learning environment.
Recent* experience in providing assistance to employees and managers in dealing with sensitive and complex** issues.
*Recent is defined as being within the past 5 years
** Complex is defined as involving multiple parties, sensitive issues, financial implications, mental health issues, etc.
Bilingual - Imperative (CCC/CCC)

Knowledge of Informal Conflict Management Systems (ICMS) / Alternate Dispute Resolution (ADR) theories, approaches and processes.
Knowledge of redress mechanisms available to employees in the Federal Public Service.
Knowledge of the Values & Ethics code for the Public Sector.

Experience in conducting ICMS group interventions.
