Work environment

Position is located at the RCMP Headquarters at 73 Leikin Drive, Ottawa, Ontario.

Intent of the process

The immediate need is to staff one position on an indeterminate basis, with a linguistic profile of Bilingual Imperative CBC/CBC and an RCMP security level requirement of Reliability .

A pool of candidates may be established and may be used to staff similar positions within the RCMP in the National Capital Region on an indeterminate or specified period (including term, acting, or assignment/secondment) basis, with various bilingual linguistic profiles and various RCMP security level requirements.

Should a Civilian Member (CM) be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to the Public Service (PS) category for the CM. Notification regarding the CM appointment will be sent to all applicable candidates who are within the area of selection and participated in the advertised process.

Should a Public Service (PS) employee be found qualified and selected for appointment, notification regarding the PS appointment will be posted accordingly on www.jobs.gc.ca.

You must meet all essential qualifications in order to be appointed to the position. Other qualifications may be a deciding factor in choosing the person to be appointed. In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Master's degree (MA) and/or Doctoral degree (PhD or PsyD) in psychology from a recognized university.

Degree equivalency

Registration for autonomous practice as a psychologist with the College of Psychologists of Ontario (areas of declared competency in clinical psychology, counselling psychology, or Industrial Organizational psychology), or eligible for registration as a psychologist with the College of Psychologists of Ontario.

EX1: Experience in implementing psychological program activities for adults
EX2: Experience working with a variety of partners and stakeholders geographically dispersed
EX3: Experience in providing psychological assessment services to adults (e.g., suitability assessments pre-employment, fitness-for-duty assessments)
EX4: Experience in providing psychological intervention to adults (e.g., crisis intervention, psychological first-aid following critical incident, short-term counselling, psychotherapy)

Information on language requirements

K1: Knowledge of principles and applications of psychological services, including assessment, treatment and crisis intervention with adult populations;
K2: Knowledge of various legislations and standards for the practice of psychology in Canada;
K3: Knowledge of general principles in police psychology.

A1: Ability to effectively communicate orally with varying audiences;
A2:Ability to effectively communicate in writing with varying audiences;
A3: Ability to research and analyze complex information and provide program recommendations;
